Mavericks continue to post marks to qualify for NCAA Preliminary Meet

Arlington, Texas - The UTA men's track and field team is adding more names to the list for the NCAA Preliminary Meet in Austin later in May.
Cordero Gray's 100 meter time of 10.28 is still holding in the top five of the region and he can be assured of a place in Austin for the Preliminary Meet. His 200 meter time of 21.03 is tied for 21st in the region as well.
Freshman Lionel Mungwari recorded a time of 10.44 in the 100 meters at last week's Northwestern State Invitational which now ranks as the 23rd fastest time in the West Region. He also posted a mark of 24-3 in the long jump last Saturday which is the 36th best mark in the region.
Renan Palma continues to have a spot in the Preliminary's 110 meter hurdle field as his 14.25 set in April is 40th in the region this week.
Aundrea Williams is also ranked 40th in the region in the 400 meter hurdles after posting a season best time of 52.13 at the Northwestern State Invitational.
The Mavs 4x100 relay team's mark of 40.31 set way back in March is 15th in the region this week.
Sophomore Isiah Clements high jump mark of 6-11 is still tied for 20th while Wade Hayes 16-8 pole vault mark is 34th. Also in the field events, freshman Ivan Storic recorded a javelin throw of 211-1 at Northwestern State and is 34th in the region. Freshman Keaton Mata also moved into the regional rankings with a long jump of 24-1 at Northwestern State.
The Mavericks are the seventh-highest ranked Southland team in the USTFCCCA's national rankings that were released Tuesday.
The team has this week off from competition before hosting the Southland Conference Meet next weekend from May 14-16 at Maverick Stadium.
