Former UT Arlington sprinter, Jared Connaughton, has been invited to compete at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 22-29.
Connaughton, the two-time defending Southland Conference champion in the 200 meters, will compete in both the 200 meters and as a member of the 4x100-meter relay team.
"The Pan American Games are one of the top four International competitions held every four years. With the participation of over 50 countries including perennial powerhouses like the United States and the Caribbean countries, this event will allow us to evaluate the preparedness of our top athletes," said Les Gramantik, head coach of the Canadian Pan American Team. "With few exceptions, this group of athletes will represent Canada at the end of August at the World Championships in Osaka, Japan, which is the remaining big step towards Beijing."
