GROSSSETO, Italy - GROSSETO, Italy - UTA sprinter Jared Connaughton (Charlottetown, Canada) clocked a time of 21.46 to advance to the semifinals of the men's 200 meters at the IAAF World Junior Championships here July 15.

Connaughton finished sixth in heat 1 of the semis with a time of 21.42 and failed to advance to the finals.

The sophomore-to-be represented Team Canada at the championship. He earned all-Southland Conference honors during the 2004 outdoor season in the 200 meters after a 21.13 earned him third place. The finish qualified him for the NCAA Midwest Regional Meet in College Station.
