Men and Women Red Hot at Chili Pepper Festival

ARLINGTON, Texas - Women's cross country came away with one of their most impressive meets of the year, finishing 16th at the Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival with the men finishing 23rd.
Sophomore Jennifer Carey continued her strong running of the last few weeks to lead the Mavericks with a 60th place finish and a time of 22:35. This is Carey's third time this season to lead the Mavs.
Junior Amanda McMahon clocked in at 22:50, good enough for 74th place behind Carey. UTA finished with 449 points. Texas Tech finished first with 35 points as Lillian Badaru from Tech finished first overall with a time of 20:31.
The men came in at 23rd with freshman Eric Montou once again leading the way. His time of 32:44 was good for 124th place. Junior Zach Zura was the next in line for the Mavs, finishing in 144th place with a time of 33:08.
Oklahoma State won the event with 21 total points. The Cowboys had the top three finishes with Colby Lowe winning the meet with a time of 29:30.
Up next for both the men and women is the Southland Conference Championships on October 31 in Corpus Christi.
