Shane Laflin begins his second year as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program. Laflin will serve as the programs recruiting coordinator as well as working with the team's forwards.
Laflin comes to UTA from the University of Texas where he served as a graduate assistant coach for legendary coach Jody Conradt. While at Texas, Laflin assisted in scheduling, scouting, on-campus recruiting and was the supervisor of team managers.
A native of Tempe, Arizona, Laflin graduated cum laude from UT Arlington in December of 2004 with a bachelor's degree in history. He has been heavily involved in coaching youth basketball and has served as a camp counselor at numerous college basketball camps, including a four-year stint at Jody Conradt's UT basketball camp.
Among his coaching experience, Laflin was boys basketball eighth-grade coach at Arlington Grace Prep Academy from 2002-05 and was an assistant coach of the Girls' AAU Team Texas 17-Under, based out of the Dallas-Forth Worth area.
