SAN MARCOS, Texas - Junior forward Ashley Bobb had nine rebounds to go along with a career-best 18 points to lead five Texas-Arlington players in double figures as the Mavs cruised to an 88-54 victory over Texas State in Southland Conference action at the Strahan Coliseum.

Bobb was joined in double figures by Terra Wallace with 15 points, Maryann Abanobi 13, Tojjinay Thompson 11 and Candice Champion 10.

UTA (9-5, 3-0) got the offense rolling from long range as three-pointers from Bobb and Abanobi gave the Mavs the early 6-2 advantage.

TXST (10-4, 2-1) came right back behind the play of Joyce Ekworomadu as the sophomore scored seven quick points to put the Bobcats up 10-8 at the 14:29 mark.

The rest of the half belonged to the Mavs as they went on a 20-2 run over the next 7:14 to open up a 28-14 advantage. Jamie Buxkemper was the catalyst off the bench as she scored seven points during the run.

Ekworomadu would temporarily stop the run with a basket inside before Abanobi hit back-to-back three pointers to push the advantage to 18 points.

The lead would get to 20 points on a Wallace layup and then get up to 22-points as UTA closed the half with back-to-back buckets inside from Bobb and Candice Champion.

The momentum carried over into the second half as the Mavs turned up the defense in pushing the advantage to 34-points just 5:15 into the half. Melanie Lane and Thompson combined for 15 of the first 18 points.

The led grew to 42-points at the 10:52 mark as a three-pointer from Wallace followed by layups from Abanobi and Kristi Dudley made the score 73-31.

UTA would clear its bench for the final seven minutes of the game allowing the Bobcats to cut the final deficit to 34 points.

The Mavs dominated the game on the glass as UTA outrebounded TXST 47-21, including 25-6 on the offensive end.

The three-point shot again carried the offense as the Mavs reached double digits for the third time in the last four games as they hit 10-of-23 from long range.

TXST was led offensively by Ekworomadu's 17 points and Tamara Thompson's 11.

The Mavs return on action on Saturday, Jan. 14 as they host Lamar in Southland Conference action at 2 p.m. at Texas Hall.
