UT Arlington at Georgia State
Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 – GSU Sports Arena – Atlanta, Ga..
UTA coach Krista Gerlich
I am so proud of our kids for just fighting through it. Every game on the road in the Sun Belt is a dog fight and you have to be prepared for that. Our kids did a good job of not just throwing in the towel and worked really hard. We had some things well for us in the first half and it was easy for them, so when it was in the second half it was a little bit more difficult, we had some moments where we panicked, but at the same time we had some clutch performances late. It was really fun to see our kids step up and do that."
Of the play of Laurynn McGowen...
"The steal was huge for us. The first time she was very confident and called her own number a few times. The steal at the end was really really big. To concentrate and make two free throws at the end was really big. It was probably the best basketball game she has had as a Lady Mav."
On keeping momentum going at Georgia Southern on Saturday...
"We just have to take the adrenaline that it gives us and the excitement of winning a game like that. We have to focus and remember we love to win. That will motivate you enough. We just need to know we need to keep our foot on the pedal. We can't let up and have offensive droughts like we did in the second half that let them get back in the game."
