UT Arlington 69 at UTSA 68 (OT)
Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 - San Antonio, Texas
UTA Head Coach Krista Gerlich
Opening statement ...
"We just grinded it out more than anything. Some kids really had to step up and we had to fight through tons of adversity throughout the game. The last possession of regulation was all my fault and I am so glad that we pulled it out because I would have felt really bad. I didn't put them in a situation to win and that made me upset. They really grinded it out well and we had some senior leadership really step up and carry us."
On playing without Cierra Johnson after the first quarter...
"Shelby did a great job of taking the role of trying to contain their top scorer. She did some really good. Jennifer Parker did a really nice job. They really set the tone for us there. I think a lot of people stepped up. Crystal did a great job in closing on shooters, it was a great defensive team effort."
What are you wanting to focus on in practice between now and Sunday...
"We need to rebound. They killed us on the boards. It was weird because we kept losing the ball. It was in our hands and then we just lost it. We have to rebound the basketball, that can't happen. We turned the ball over too many times and didn't have enough assists. We have to move the ball around and get used to sharing the basketball and trusting our offense. Free throws is all mental. And then just executing. That shouldn't happen against us, we should always be able to handle the press."
