FRESNO, Calif. – UT Arlington falls 70-45 to the Fresno State Bulldogs Sunday at the Save Mart Center.
The Mavericks (1-6) debuted a new lineup against the Bulldogs, which included Rosalyn Thrope and Krioni Bruce’s first starts of the season. The Mavericks got off to a slow start, but Thorpe found her rhythm picking up eight points for the Mavs in the first half.
"I was extremely excited about Rosalyn's effort," UT Arlington coach Samantha Morrow said. "She's been doing some great stuff for us in practice and she did some good things in Omaha [in UTA's previous game]."
The Bulldogs came out of the locker room ready to play, scoring the first eight points of the second half.
Thorpe broke into double digits for the first time of the season early in the second half. Sophomore Chauntandra Williams picked up a quick five points for the Mavs to cut into a 20-point deficit, but Fresno State was able to pull away.
The Mavericks contained the Bulldogs' leading scorer Ki-Ki Moore to just four points in 20 minutes of play. Robin Draper was 4 of 9 from beyond the arc, picking up 12 points for the Bulldogs.
Thorpe finished the game with a season-high 14 points and five rebounds, while senior Kiara Parker had 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Mavericks.
UT Arlington will face the UT Pan American Broncs on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at College Park Center for its first home game of the month.
