FLAGSTAFF, Arizona -- The UT Arlington women's basketball team fell 85-65 Saturday afternoon to Northern Arizona at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
This is the ninth straight loss for the Mavericks (0-9) this season, while NAU improved to 3-3. Junior guard Chauntandra Williams made her first start, as UT Arlington coach Krista Gerlich debuted her fourth lineup of the season.
"The first half run that NAU went on was detrimental. It was the difference in the ballgame," Gerlich said. "We couldn't get the stops when we needed them and we didn't execute well."
The Mavericks were 10-10 from the free-throw line and shot 40 percent in the first half. Junior Tahlia Pope led the team with 10 points in the half, but UTA went into the locker room down 48-32.
NAU's shooting accuracy continued in to the second half as the Lumberjacks finished the game shooting 59 percent.
The Mavericks travel to Edinburg, Texas to face UT-Pan American Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
