Final Stats

Arlington, Texas - The Mavericks grabbed their second victory of the season Saturday at Texas Hall against the Houston Baptist Huskies, 78-61.

UTA took the lead early, but a 3-pointer by HBU's Brittany Barton gave the Huskies the lead.

The two teams struggled to keep the lead, but the Mavericks were able to gain, and keep the lead after a free-throw by Rosalyn Thorpe.

Freshman Takiyah Langford led the team with 20 points while also grabbing 12 rebounds in 22 minutes of play.

Langford's double-double was the first for the UTA Mavericks this season.

Houston Baptist's Shanice Steenholdt was also able to grab a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The Mavericks will be at home Tuesday January 3 to face the Fresno State Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
