ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington continues its road trip as the team heads to Louisiana Tech to take on the Techsters on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Mavericks are looking for their first victory over Louisiana Tech, which is undefeated (10-0) in the series. The two teams have not faced each other since 2000 in Ruston where UTA lost 89-44.
The Mavericks are 3-9 overall and 1-1 in the Western Athletic Conference. Junior guard Laila Suleiman averages 11 points per game.
After the first weekend of conference action, only one team remains undefeated. Utah State defeated Texas State and UTSA to lead the WAC at 2-0.
The Techsters (5-7) also opened WAC play with a 1-1 record after defeating Denver 82-77 in a double-overtime brawl and falling to New Mexico State by just four points, 71-67. Kelia Shelton averaged 21.5 points in the two games, and Whitney Frazier is averaging just shy of a double-double in WAC play with 11.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
