WBB: 3-pointer heats up to lift UTA over Eagles
UTA defeated Georgia Southern to improve to 17-6 overall and 10-3 in the Sun Belt Conference.

UTA is seeking to push its winning streak to 4 games, longest since opening the year with a 5-0 start... UTA is 5-0 all-time against GS and 11-2 against the two league programs from Georgia... UTA is 14-3 when playing in the eastern time zone since coach Krista Gerlich took over in 2013.

Rebekah VanDijk is averaging 24.3 points and 13.3 rbs over the last 4 games, posting 3 games with 27 points or more. Laurynn McGowen and Crystal Allen are averaging 13.0 and 11.8 points in the same stretch respectively. VanDijk's 58.1% field-goal percentage is currently best in single-season history (Tracy Burr, 86-87, 57.8%).

VanDijk is 38 rebounds away from breaking UTA's all-time rebounds record as she has 1,041). She needs 60 points to move into 4th in UTA scoring history, she has 1,527.

HEAD COACH Krista Gerlich
Krista Gerlich enters with with a 237-123 career record, while posting a 69-81 record in her fifth season at UTA. A 1993 graduate of Texas Tech, Gerlich has led a resurgance of the Lady Mavs, bringing the team from just a four-win season in her first year, to reaching the WNIT in 2017. As a player, Gerlich won the 1993 NCAA National Championship with Texas Tech. Prior to UTA, she was a standout coach at West Texas A&M, claiming three conference titles.

It was a wild one at GSU Sports Arena as UTA survived the Panther's comback bid on Thursday night on ESPN3.

UTA led by as much as 16 points midway through the third quarter, but a huge run by GSU pushed the home team into the lead in the fourth. After the teams traded buckets, GSU found itself up 4 with a minute left.

Crystal Allen drained a 3-pointer to cut it to 1, and McGowen's steal with 9.1 on the clock helped her knock a pair of free throws to take the lead. GSU would hit 1 of 2 on its chance at the other end, sending it into OT. UTA raced out to a 10-2 run to start the extra frame to hold on to win.

VanDijk grabbed her 44th-career double-double with 27 points (23 in the first half) and 17 rbs.
