GAME RECAP: UT ARLINGTON AT UTSA
- When it seemed like the UT Arlington Mavericks had total control of the Southland Conference, Southeastern Louisiana entered Texas Hall on Wednesday night and made sure that it wasn't going to be that easy, as they handed UTA their first loss at home with an 82-74 setback.

- The win by the Lady Lions broke a 10 game losing skid against the Mavs and was the first victory since February 3, 2001 in Hammond, La.

SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE NOTES
- Key Saturday Matchups

- With five regular season games remaining teams will be putting it all on the line in an effort to make it to Katy, Texas, the site of the 2008-09 Southland Conference Basketball Tournament.

- Sam Houston State will face UTSA on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Bearkats could make their first tournament appearance since 2004 but are in a must win situation. With UT Arlington falling to Southeastern Louisiana, UTSA could still capture the No. 1 seed in the tournament but must keep a one game lead over UTA. The Mavs own the tie breaker over Roadrunners after taking both regular-season meetings.

- UTA and Central Arkansas will meet for the first time this season. The Mavs will attempt to get back on track and reclaim the top spot in conference in Conway, Ark. on Saturday at 4 p.m.

- Northwestern State will put its league-best 17 game home win streak on the line as Lamar visits Natchitoches, La. on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff. The Lady Demons are currently in a three-way tie for the East Division lead and need a win to help secure a top seed in the tournament. A No. 1 seed is not out of reach for Lamar as the Lady Cardinals are one game behind league leaders UTA and UTSA.

- Stephen F. Austin and Southeastern Louisiana stand at 7-4 apiece and are two-thirds of a three way East Division tie. The Ladyjacks and Lady Lions will meet on Saturday at 3 p.m. in an effort to take a step closer to a higher seed in the coming tournament.

- Texas State travels to Thibodaux, La., to face Nicholls State in a key matchup as the Bobcats need a win to stay alive for the Southland tournament. As do the McNeese State Cowgirls. McNeese takes on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday at 4 p.m. Both teams need a win to help secure a place in the conference postseason.
