SOUTING THE COWGIRLS - Oklahoma State is coming off a 67-62 setback over Baylor University in the Big 12 Tournament on Mar. 13. - OSU finished with a 4-12 Big 12 conference record, collecting wins over Missouri, Texas and Texas Tech twice. - The Cowgirls finished the game shooting 32.8 percent from the floor to Baylor's 34.9 percent from the field. - Andrea Riley led the team with 17 points on 4-of-21 shooting from the field, including 1-of-7 from three-point range, 8-of-8 from the charity stripe and dished out six assists. - Shaunte Smith notched 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Cowgirls. - Riley leads the squad in scoring with 23.1 points per game while Smith leadsthe team in rebounding with 8.6 boards per game. - Riley ranks fifth in points per game with 23.1 and 10th in assists with 6.1 per game.
MAVERICKS LOOK TO CAPTURE FIRST WNIT VICTORY IN SCHOOL HISTORY - The last time the Mavericks played in the WNIT was in the 1998-99 season under the direction of former coach Mike Dean. UTA finished the season with an 18-11 overall mark and suffered a 71-60 setback to Baylor on March 12 in Waco, Texas. - Since the 2004-05 season, the Mavericks have been in the postseason in three of the past four years.
ARKANSAS STATE ROUND TWO OPPONENT - The Razorbacks finished the regular season with a 17-13 overall record, including an 11-5 mark on their home floor. - Ceira Ricketts leads the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game while Whitney Jones leads the team in rebounding with 7.7 per game.

MAVS FALL SHORT OF SLC TOURNAMENT TITLE AGAINST ROADRUNNERS, 74-63 - No.1 seed UT Arlington was unable to pull the three-game sweep at the 2008-09 Southland Conference Tournament as they fell 74-63 in the championship game against the Roadrunners of UTSA on Saturday, March 14 at the Merrell Center. - With the victory, UTSA advances to the NCAA Tournament while UTA earned a bid to the WNIT next week. - Shalyn Martin led the Mavs in scoring as she was one point shy of tying her career-high 19 points. Martin finished with 18 points on 7-of-19 shooting from the floor, 4-of-9 from three-point range and grabbed nine boards. - UT Arlington opened the first half with a 6-2 advantage over the Roadrunners but fell into a seven point deficit when UTSA went on an 11-0 run, sparked by a three-point play by SLC Tournament MVP Onika Anderson with 15:46 in the first stanza. - Throughout the rest of the first half UTA and UTSA went head-to-head, exchanging baskets on both ends of the courts, with the Mavericks surging their way to within three, at 25-22 with 5:17 on the clock. - UTSA's Jordan Stark kept the Mavericks as far away as possible, connecting on three of her seven three's in the first half as she led the Roadrunners to a 32-27 halftime lead. - The Roadrunners came out of halftime fired up, exploding to an 11-3 run, at the 15:32 mark. Martin silenced UTSA's run, connecting from behind the arc but back-to-back three's by Stark gave the Roadrunners a 15 point advantage. - UTA wouldn't let up as senior Erin Dixon and Martin led the Mavs on a 14-3 run, to come within six points, at 54-48 with 8:47 remaining. Anderson connected on a layup, to put the Roadrunners up by eight but two big time three's by Dixon and Simmons came at the right moment, cutting the deficit to two points with 5:13 in regulation. - Monica Gibbs, the SLC Most Valuable Player took control of the game, recording eight of her 19 points in the final four minutes of the game and led the Roadrunners to back-to-back titles. - Dixon collected 16 points and brought down seven boards while Simmons also recorded 16 points and Champion added nine. - Stark led all scorers with 23 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field, including 7-of-16 from behind the arc and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. - UTA finished the game shooting 37.7 percent from the floor, 60 percent from three-point range and 82.4 from the charity stripe. - The Mavericks were out-rebounded by the Roadrunners by a 41-31 margin but were even in points in the paint and points off of turnovers. - Champion and Martin were the only Mavs to collect SLC Tournament Team honors while Anderson was named the tournament's most valuable player.
