FORT WORTH, Texas - UT Arlington incoming freshman Shay Bowman has been selected to participate in the 2006 Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Basketball Game.

Bowman, a 6-foot-1 forward from Brownsboro, will compete in the Class 1A-3A game for the north squad. The game will be played July 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth.

"It is a huge honor for one of our players to be selected to play in a prestigious event like this all-star game," said UT Arlington Head Women's Basketball Coach Donna Capps. "Shay will have a great experience and will play with some of the top players in the state."

Bowman is two-time All-East Texas first-team pick and the District 15-3A Most Valuable Player both as a junior and senior averaged 13.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, three assists and three steals. She was named all-region by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Her Brownsboro Bearettes team finished the year 34-4 and lost to eventual state champion China Springs, 60-48, in the Class 3A state semifinals.
