UT Arlington head women's basketball coach Samantha Morrow released the 2009-10 schedule which consists of 11 home games, two tournaments and three meetings with schools in the Big 12.

"I think we've done a great job of putting together a strong schedule to prepare us for conference," said Morrow. "We're playing a lot of very well known universities and it will prepare us for conference and how physical the game is."

The Mavericks open their season at home against Rice on Friday, November 13 followed by Houston (Nov. 17) and UMKC (Nov. 24) at Texas Hall. The Mavericks will then travel to Lubbock, Texas for the Basketball Traveler's Classic where they will match up against Prairie View A&M (Nov. 27), host Texas Tech (Nov. 28) and San Francisco (Nov. 29) in the three-day tournament.

The Mavs will spend the entire month of December away from Texas Hall, traveling to Oklahoma (Dec. 3), Southeast Missouri (Dec. 12), Arkansas State (Dec. 15) and Houston Baptist (Dec. 30).

"There are a lot of things going on at Texas Hall in December, that's how we are able to play so many games at home early. It's real hard to find a team to play the one or two days that we are available. You can either complain about it or go out, get stronger and get use to play on the road," Morrow said.

Sandwiched between games is the St. John's Holiday Invitational in Jamaica, NY. UT Arlington plays host St. John's in the first round of the tournament and then plays UAB or Virginia Tech the following day.

"The New York trip will be a great educational trip for everybody as well as a time for us to play extremely hard knowing that we are going to have a break right after that, so there will be no reason to hold anything back for the games coming up," Morrow said.

Prior to the start of conference action, the Mavericks travel to Austin, Texas for a match-up against Big 12 opponent-Texas (Jan. 5).

The Mavs open Southland Conference play on the road against Texas State on Saturday, January 9 and ends at home against A&M-Corpus Christi (Mar. 6).

The annual Southland Conference Tournament will once again be held in Katy, Texas the week following the regular season.
