ARLINGTON, Texas - In a continued effort to have UTA women's basketball alumni connect with the program, the Lady Mavericks hosted their second annual Legacy Weekend on Sunday.

The event brought together former student-athletes and managers for festivities.

"Legacy Weekend has become one of my favorite events we have began here at UTA," UTA coach Krista Gerlich said. "We bring back the players who have played for our coaching staff the last four years and intertwine them with our current players allowing them to get to know one another, past and present.

"We attend a church service, have lunch as a big group and then our alumni attend practice. Our alums have been great to come back and want to be involved with the team and legacy that they helped build and our current players have a chance to meet the ones that came back before them and laid the ground work. It has been very successful the past two years and something we all look forward to."

Former Lady Mavs in attendance included Briana Walker, Tahlia Pope, Krioni Bruce, Chaun Williams, Desherra Nwanguma, Amara Wainwright, Allyson Te'o and former manager Dalante Redway.

The Lady Mavericks tip off their campaign on Nov. 11 against Incarnate Word as part of the University's Homecoming week.
