FRISCO, Texas - After leading the Southland Conference in scoring with 19.1 points per game, UT Arlington senior guard Terra Wallace leads the 2006-07 SLC Preseason Women's Basketball Team released Thursday.
Wallace is ranked in the top 10 in career scoring, 3-point field-goals made, assists and steals at UT Arlington. She needs 494 points to become the career scoring leader, presently held by Natasha Johnson with 1,695 points. Wallace is the all-time three-point field goal leader with 156 through three seasons. She is third on the career assists with 281 and eighth in all-time steals with 171.
Her 19.1 points per game was 20th nationally in Division I women's basketball and she became the first Maverick to lead the SLC in scoring. She led the SLC in assists with 5.0 per game last season and became the first women's basketball player to lead the league in scoring and assists in the same season.
Bobb, who needs 209 rebounds to move into the top 10 in career rebounds at UT Arlington, was sixth in the SC with a team-leading 7.2 rebounds per game. She ranked third on the team in scoring at 9.1 points per game.
Abanobi earned third-team all-SLC accolades, was second on the team in scoring (9.9 points per game) and committed just 28 turnovers while averaging almost 33 minutes a game a year ago. She was named the SLC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the year award.
UT Arlington begins fall workouts Friday at 9 p.m. on the UT Arlington campus. The Mavericks host Northern Arizona on November 11 at 2 p.m. at Texas Hall.
