ARLINGTON, Texas -- National exposure for UT Arlington men and women’s basketball teams is at an all-time high due to a fourth straight year of expansion of the Sun Belt Conference’s media rights agreement with ESPN.

Starting Saturday, every home Maverick men and women’s basketball game this season in College Park Center will be produced distributed through ESPN’s digital network, which is anchored by popular online streaming service ESPN3 (WatchESPN.com). In addition, the final two UTA volleyball matches of the season – tonight against ULM and Sunday against Louisiana, will be available on ESPN3.

A total of 30 home basketball games will be produced for ESPN3. The men’s team will be featured an additional eight times on either television or ESPN3, including appearances on ESPN2, FS1, SEC Network and BYUtv. The women’s team will also appear on the digital platforms for the ACC Network, SEC Network and Pac-12 Network.

UTA’s production of men and women’s basketball will feature nationally-prominent announcers such as Dave Barnett, Ron Thulin, Pete Stein and Roger Emrich handling play-by-play duties throughout the season. Former UTA assistant and long time area high school coach Robert Gill is slated to serve as the color analyst for all 30 games. Jerry Cantu will serve as producer.

“Each of our UTA athletic programs, as well as the entire University and the city of Arlington, will benefit greatly through our increased exposure on the ESPN family of networks,” said UTA director of athletics Jim Baker. “Our programs are performing at a high level. We have one of the finest facilities in the country in the College Park Center. Our University continues to rise in prominence among institutions of higher education. And, tourism through sports and entertainment has made city of Arlington a true destination.

“We look forward to showcasing all of this, as well as providing UTA students and opportunity to gain valuable live television production experience, through our production of games on ESPN3.”

The Sun Belt announced for a fourth straight year its largest television and digital package ever for men’s and women’s basketball on the ESPN family of networks. Conference-wide, a total of 148 games are set for live telecasts on ESPN3 and availability on the ESPN app with four additional games airing live on ESPN2.

Regular season contests as well as all games of the men’s and women’s basketball championship will be aired on ESPN3, while three regular season men’s basketball games and the championship game of the men’s basketball tournament will air on ESPN2.

Sun Belt men’s basketball will continue to have a prime viewing slot on Selection Sunday with the championship game of the men’s basketball tournament set to air at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN2 on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

An additional nationally-televised game, on ESPN2, will be selected 21 days out from Dec. 29 and will tip off at 6 p.m. (CST).

On-campus productions carried on ESPN3 offer unique opportunities for students and staff at each Sun Belt Conference member institution in live-game production. ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and streaming devices through WatchESPN. The network is available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.
