Arlington, Texas - UT Arlington head women's basketball coach Samantha Morrow announced the signing of three high school student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, November 12, which was the first official day of the early signing period.
The Mavericks added three guards to the 2009-2010 roster in Desoto High School product Kiara Parker, Grapevine High School standout Erica Paskell and Sabreen DeNure from Corpus Christi Carroll.
A three-year starter at Desoto High School, Parker has compiled a 109-9 overall record and has captured three consecutive district championships. The 5-8 guard finished her junior campaign averaging 6.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, garnering second team all-district honors. The Eagles finished last season as the 5A state runner-up.
A two-sport athlete at Grapevine High School, Paskell was a first team all-district recipient and was named Grapevine's High School's Most Valuable Player last season. Paskell plays AAU basketball with the DFW Elite Nike Regional Skills Academy.
A Corpus Christi Carroll standout, DeNure led the Tigers in scoring with 17 points, 5.5 assists and 4.3 steals per game. DeNure was named the 27-5A District Most Valuable Player at the end of last season.
The Mavericks kick off the 2008-09 campaign on the road against SMU on Friday, November 14 at the Moody Coliseum with tip off slated for 7 p.m.
