SENIOR CANDICE CHAMPION NAMED SLC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Champion was selected as SLC Player of the Week after a 20 point performance at SMU

Arlington, Texas - The Southland Conference announced on Monday, November 17, 2008 that senior Candice Champion was selected as the first women's basketball player of the week of the 2008-09 campaign.

In a non-conference match-up against SMU, Tuesday night, Champion recorded a game-high 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor and 6-of-10 from the free throw line in a huge 85-79 opening day victory at the Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas. Champion added eight defensive rebounds, two assists and three steals in 36 minutes of action.

The Mavericks will hit the road for a match-up against TCU on Thursday, November 20 with game time slated for 6:30 p.m.
