SERIES VS TCU
TCU owns a 16-13 series lead over UT Arlington...the Horned Frogs have won the last 13 meetings over the Mavs... UTA is 2-14 on TCU's home court... the last meeting between both teams was in Fort Worth on Nov. 20, 2008 where the Mavericks drop a 45-70 decision... the last recorded win for the Mavericks was in Arlington, 89-84 on November 26, 1985.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
TCU led by as many as 14 points in the second half Saturday, but was unable to hold off Fresno State down the stretch during a 75-72 setback at the Save Mart Center.
The loss dropped TCU to 4-4 on the year. Helena Sverrisdottir finished with a season-high 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-9 from deep. Sverrisdottir is second on the team, averaging 15.5 points per game.
Emily Carter, TCU's leading scorer (22.5 ppg.) finished the night with 18 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Carter has led TCU in scoring in six of the Horned Frogs eight contests this season.
The Horned Frogs last win came against Houston (Dec. 2) at home, 69-57. TCU is shooting 40 percent from the field and is as a team is averaging 71.2 points per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Four Mavericks finished in double-figures to lead UT Arlington to an 81-72 win at home against Texas-Pan American Saturday. The victory improved the Mavericks to 3-5 overall while UTPA fell to 4-5.
Senior Tamara Simmons led the Mavs with 18 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the field, 2-of-7 from behind the arc and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Shalyn Martin recorded 16 with seven rebounds, a career-high eight assists, five steals and three blocks.
UP NEXT FOR THE MAVS
Following the game against TCU, the Mavericks will prepare for the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, NV... UTA will face California (Dec. 19) and Pittsburgh (Dec. 20) in the two day tournament.
