ARLINGTON, Texas - Each week, the UTA Athletic Department spotlights a Texas Trust Scholar-Athlete of the Week to showcase the excellence in academic achievement of its student-athletes.
This week's honoree is redshirt freshman women's basketball player Kelsey Johnson. The Washington, Okla. native comes from an athletic family that saw her mom play basketball at Oklahoma, while her brother played football at Houston.
Johnson comes to UTA from Washington High School, where she was a 2016 All-State selection. She helped her team to a appearance in the Oklahoma State Championship Game in 2016, as well as to the semi finals in both the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
She was a member of the National Honor Society and was named the Class Valedictorian.
