ARLINGTON, Texas -- After a welcome 2-week break from competition, the UTA women’s golf team returns to action Monday in the ULM Fred Marx Invitational at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, La.

The Mavericks join programs from Alcorn State, Austin Peay, Centenary, Incarnate Word, Lamar, McNeese, Murray State, Murray State College, Prairie View A&M, South Alabama, Stephen F. Austin and host ULM.

The field is scheduled to play the first two of the event’s three rounds on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. (CDT). UTA is paired with golfers from Incarnate Word and Stephen F. Austin and will go off on holes 8 through 11.

As it has been throughout the season, UTA will be represented by its entire 6-golfer roster. The five golfers who will count toward the team standings each round are Ava Schwienteck, Rachel Phillips, Allison Wade, Kate Tran and Madigan Murray. Sydney Garber will compete in the Fred Marx Invitational as an individual.

The 6,157-yard, par 72 Bayou DeSiard Country Club was renovated in 2009 by Ron Pritchard and has water on 10 holes, tree-lined fairways and numerous sand bunkers. The course has hosted a number of state Louisiana Golf Association events and has repeatedly been ranked as one of the top courses in the South.

Following this week’s tournament, the Mavericks will conclude their inaugural fall season at the Little Rock Women’s Golf Classic, scheduled for Oct. 29-31 at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Ark. The team will resume its season on Feb. 12 at the Texas State Invitational.
