As a student-athlete, Nelson was showered with numerous awards and accolades during her UT Arlington career, including 2007 Southland Conference All-Tournament Team and All-SLC First Team Honors in addition to being the recipient of the Steve McCarty Citizenship Award.
Nelson's presence can be felt all over the Maverick records book. She is the career leader in home runs (25) and runs batted in (117), as well as single-season leader in home runs (14) and runs batted in (43). The Pasadena native also is in the Top Ten in four other categories, including career extra-base hits (49), career batting average (.302), single-season extra-base hits (19) and single-season batting average (.380).
Nelson graduated from UT Arlington in May 2007 with a degree in economics and is currently working on her masters degree in business administration at UTA.

2007 (Senior): Preseason All-SLC second team selection... started all 52 games of the season at first base... batted .380 (third on the team) on the season with 57 hits in 150 at bats... led the team for the second consecutive season with 14 home runs, setting a new single season home run record... led the team with 43 RBI and tied for second with 31 runs on the season... became UTA's all-time home run leader with her 23rd career home run on April 28 after a pair of home runs against Central Arkansas... finished the season with 25 career home runs... recorded a team leading 384 putouts at first base with six assists for a .995 fielding percentage... played and started in all 24 conference games, hitting .387, with 29 hits in 75 at bats, recording 10 runs... had seven home runs, four doubles and 18 RBI in league play.
2006 (Junior): Third-team all-SLC at first base... one of three who played and started in all 54 games of the season... second on the team with a .322 batting average... led the team with eight home runs (tied for 14th in the SLC) and 36 RBI (tied for 5th in SLC)... notched 58 hits for 21 runs in 181 at bats (2nd in the SLC)... playing first base recorded a team leading 377 putouts for a .992 fielding percentage... played and started in all 25 SLC games, hitting .366 with 30 hits on 82 at bats... notched two home runs and 18 RBI.
2005 (Sophomore): Started 43 games at first base for the Mavericks... ranked 3rd in conference in batting average (.283)... tied for 13th in the league in sacrifice bunts (6)... led Mavericks with three home runs and 22 RBIs... batted .310 with two home runs and 16 RBIs in SLC play... had career-best four RBI against Texas State... recorded nine multiple-hit games... named to the 2005 Hibernia Bank/Southland Conference All-Academic Team.
2004 (Freshman): Only freshman to start all 49 games for the Mavericks in 2004... split time between designated hitter and third base... collected 29 hits in 140 at bats for a .207 average... posted seven doubles, fourth highest on the squad... batted .333 against left handed pitchers.
Prior to UTA: A former two-sport athlete at Sam Rayburn High School... named Newcomer of the Year as a freshman... earned second team all-district honors as a sophomore... a first team all-district selection in 2002 and 2003...selected to the Greater Houston second team in 2003... hit .527 in district action as a senior.
Personal: Born Nov. 1, 1984... is the daughter of John and Connie Nelson... graduated with a degree in economics and is currently pursuing her masters degree in business administration at UT Arlington.
