SB: Freshmen adjust to life as student-athletes

The services and aid these young ladies receive at UTA are second to none and go along with the high standard that has been set as a member of the Maverick softball program.

Junior (2007): Started 21 games in the circle... allowed 48 earned runs in 119.2 innings on the mound for a 2.81 ERA... finished with a 15-4 record and 90 strikeouts... recorded a season-high eight K's against University of Texas-El Paso (2/16)... went 10-1 with two saves in SLC action, recording 50 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched for a 2.26 ERA.

Sophomore (2006): Named to the third-team all-SLC and Capital One/Southland All-Academic team... started 19 games on the mound... allowed 40 earned runs in 131.2 innings for a 2.13 ERA... finished the season with an 11-7 record with 138 strikeouts... finished the season ranked third in the SLC with a 2.13 ERA and sixth with 138 strike outs... went 6-2 in SLC action recording a team best 1.62 ERA... allowing only 14 earned runs in 60.1 innings of action, striking out 63 batters... had a perfect game until a two-out single in the seventh against Texas Southern (3/14/06).

Freshman (2005): Made two appearances in relief during her freshman season... just third Oregon native to play for the Mavericks' softball program, joining Lisa Harding (1993-95) and Carleen Criteser (1993).

Prior to UTA: A 2004 graduate at Rogue River High School... a four-year letterwinner in softball... named honorable mention all-conference as a sophomore... earned second-team all-conference honors as a junior and named to the first team her senior year... squad claimed the 3A Skyline Conference title in 2004 and was a state quarter finalist... earned first team all-state honors as a senior... qualified for nationals with Southern Oregon Sting summer squad... a four year honor roll student and co-valedictorian... member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Born Aug. 4, 1986... daughter of Ted and Joan Jones... architecture major.
