LAS CRUCES, N.M. - UT Arlington softball dropped a 13-4 decision to Loyola Marymount Sunday in its final game of the Troy Cox Classic. Errors cost the Mavs as they move to 5-5 on the season. Centerfielder Kristin Moore led UTA going 2-for-2 scoring one run.

First baseman Dee Jay Nelson and left fielder Katie Jones were selected for the all-tournament team. For the weekend Nelson and Jones combined for 11 runs including five of UTA's seven homeruns.

The Lions (9-3) scored early and often against UTA plating three runs in the first and adding four in the second.

UTA got on the board in the bottom of the second with a solo home run from Heather Fortenberry, but the LMU offense kept rolling. A walk to Margo Pineda set the stage for Christine Foley's RBI double, and she came around to score on Megan Ackerman's RBI single, putting LMU ahead 9-1 in the top of the fourth.

The Mavs cut the lead to 9-4 with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs Moore hit a double to plate right fielder April Clougherty followed by a 2-RBI homer from Katie Jones to score Moore.

LMU put the game out of reach with four runs in the top of the fifth. A scoreless bottom of the fifth by UTA ended the game with a 13-4 LMU victory.

UTA will be back on the field on Wednesday when it travels to Ruston, La. for a double header with Louisiana Tech.
