- Rude extended her hitting streak to eight games.
- UTA went to 4-1 when scoring in the first and 6-3 when it scores the first run.
- The matchup is the first for UTA to end in a run-rule.
- Tulsa has defeated UTA in back-to-back seasons.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
UTA was quick to get on the board, scoring a run in both the first and second innings. Sandra Mendoza knocked the first of her two hits to lead off the game and Whitney Walton powered an RBI double with one out to bring the senior across the plate two batters later. Curry doubled the UTA lead with the second home run of her career in the second, a solo shot over the centerfield fence.
As the UTA offense went quiet, it was the Hurricane offense that started to brew. Tulsa scored three in the bottom of the second coming on four hits. A two-out rally plated another in the third and then two home runs in the fourth built up a 7-2 lead.
Krista Rude got UTA back on the board by taking advantage of the shift in the fifth. Reaching on an error, Rude advanced to third where a throwing error brought the junior home. However, Tulsa would come right back in the bottom half to hit a two-run homer and a two-RBI single to clinch the game.
