HOW IT HAPPENED:
The offense was quiet through the first two innings with three being left on the base paths. Aileen Garcia broke open the scoreboard with a triple into center on a full count, bringing around Walton who had reached on a two-out single up the middle.
The flood gates opened in the fifth with a string of hits coming on one out. Mendoza and Rude each reached on infield singles. Mendoza came home on a wild pitch, while Rude was knocked in by Wright's single into left, bringing in Walton as well.
Six runs came on six hits in the sixth to push UTA into double digits. Bryanna Datko knocked a leadoff home run over the left-field fence on the second pitch of the frame. Curry followed it up with a single into center before Madison Miller's pinch-hit double into left doubled UTA's scoring in the sixth. Melanie Mendoza kept the run going with a single into left. With two outs, North Texas nearly got out of the jam, but Wright's single into left with two outs and the bases loaded scored two. Kjirstyn Murphy completed the offensive outburst on the final hit of the sixth, helped along by an error in the infield to let Walton and Wright cross the dish.
