SEVENTH INNING RALLY LEADS DEMONS TO DOUBLEHEADER SWEEP

ARLINGTON, Texas - Northwestern State used a two run seventh inning to edge past Texas-Arlington 4-3 in the nightcap of Saturday's Southland Conference doubleheader at Allan Saxe Field.
The Demons evened the score in the fourth as Katrina Walker singled to plate Margaret Patterson who walked to open in the inning.
Petrino doubled to get things started for UTA in the fourth and moved to third on a wild pitch by NSU starter Amanda Glenn. Kathleen Bradshaw plated Petrino with a single to right as the Lady Mavs recaptured the lead. UTA used the double steal to add an insurance run and push their advantage to 3-1.
Patterson led off the NSU sixth with a home run over the left field wall, her fifth of the season, to pull the Demons within one.
A lead off double by Trina Walker chased UTA starter Nicki Wilson from the contest. Amanda Perdue greated reliever Lauren Hebert with a bunt single that put runners on first and third with no outs. Nicole Martin followed with a double off the wall in left center to give the Demons a 4-3 advantage.
Hebert was tagged with the loss after allowing one run on two hits in one inning of relief. In her first of the season start Wilson allowed three runs on five hits in six innings of work.
Petrino led the Lady Mavs offense with two hits.
Walker paced the Demons with three hits and one RBI while Michelle Castellano picked up the victory to improve to 6-4 on the year.
Texas-Arlington and Northwestern State will close out the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
