March 15, 2011
Waco, Texas - The UT Arlington softball team had plenty of chances to score runs against No. 22 Baylor but fell short, falling 5-0 Tuesday at Getterman Stadium. The setback dropped the Mavs to 16-11 overall.
The meeting against the Baylor Bears was the second time the Mavericks faced a ranked opponent this season.
Sophomore Teri Lyles took the loss and fell to 6-7 on the year. Lyles pitched three complete innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits. Freshman Callie Collins came in to pitch the final three innings and allowed only one hit while striking out four.
UTA had several chances to plate runs but couldn't come up with a key hit, leaving seven runners stranded.
The Mavs will be back on the diamond tomorrow for a double-header against Prairie View A&M. Game times are set for 3 and 5 p.m. in Prairie View, Texas.
