ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington struggled against the Texas State Bobcats as they lost both games of their doubleheader Tuesday 2-1 and 4-0 at Allan Saxe Field.
The Mavericks dropped to 11-13 overall and 1-3 in the Southland Conference while the Bobcats have won 12 of their last 13 games.
“Texas State out played us in all aspects of the game,” UT Arlington head coach Debbie Hedrick said about Tuesday’s doubleheader.
The Bobcats (21-11, 7-1) grabbed their first run of the doubleheader when Chandler Hall doubled to centerfield and Haley Lemons scored.
The Mavericks and the Bobcats each tacked on another run in the fifth inning making the score 2-1 Bobcats.
Teri Lyles pitched seven innings giving up five hits, three walks and two runs to the Bobcats
UT Arlington could not get things going in the second game as Texas State picked up three runs in the top of the second and one more in the fifth.
Sophomore Callie Collins walked seven batters while also giving up four hits and four runs.
Lyles drops to 5-7 and Collins falls to 6-7 on the season.
The Mavericks have a few days off before heading to Nacogdoches to take on the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m.
