LADY 'KATS USE EXTRA INNINGS TO HAND UTA 1-0 LOSS

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Sam Houston State capitalized on four Texas-Arlington errors to edge past the Lady Mavericks 1-0 in nine innings Sunday afternoon in Huntsville. The squads split Saturday's Southland Conference doubleheader.
Two costly errors in the ninth inning gave the Lady Bearkats the win. After Sarah Sweeney reached on a UTA error she would eventually score on the Lady Mavericks second error in the bottom of the ninth frame. Chrissy Dileo picked up the game-winning RBI for the 'Kats.
Amanda Haney led the Lady Mavericks offense with two hits while Falon Kwasnick and Katie Singleton eached chipped in one. Freshman Lauren Hebert was tagged with the loss after tossing 1.2 innings in relief and allowing one hit and one (unearned) run.
Texas-Arlington will return to action Wednesday when it plays host to Prairie View for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Allan Saxe Field.
