NACOGDOCHES, Texas -The Mavericks fell to the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks in Southland Conference play Saturday in Nacogdoches 2-1.
UT Arlington (12-16, 2-4) had six hits, but struggled to score runs. The softball team’s lone run game in the top of the sixth when senior Erica LeFlore homered to left field to give the Mavericks their only run of the ball game.
Teri Lyles pitched just over five innings (5.2) allowing two hits, two walks and threw three strikeouts. Sophomore Callie Collins also saw some playing time with one inning pitches and allowing three hits, one run and one walk with no strikeouts.
The Ladyjacks (9-21, 2-6) picked up their first run in the bottom of the second and they grabbed their run to win the ball game in the bottom of the seventh.
The Mavericks have nearly a week to regroup before heading to Lake Charles, La., to take on McNeese State on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
