MAVS COMPLETE SWEEP IN QUICK FASHION

Senior catcher Lacey Leadbetter hit her first career home run - a two-run blast to left field - to lead UT Arlington to an 8-0, five-inning win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in college softball action at Allan Saxe Field Tuesday night.
UTA (21-12) received another strong effort from sophomore right hander Laura Jones (7-2). She allowed one hit and one walk for the win.
The offense built a six-run cushion for Jones in the first inning. Jenna Fortune doubled to right center to score Autumn Petrino to open the scoring. Katie Jones hit a two-run double to left center to score Fortune and Deejay Nelson. Courtni Anderson singled to score Jones for a 4-0 lead. Leadbetter doubled down the fight field line to score Kristin Moore and Amanda Swofford for a 6-0 lead.
Leadbetter, who had eight RBI and just two extra hits this season prior to Tuesday, finished the game 2-for-2 with four RBI.
UTA continues its 10-game homestand Saturday when they host Louisiana-Monroe in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
