ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington defeated ULM 4-3 Saturday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.
The Mavericks improved to 19-26 overall and 4-10 in Sun Belt action after winning their first conference series of the season.
Senior Callie Collins picked up her 11th win of the season as she went 2-0 against ULM.
"We had some good approaches at the plate. We wanted to put the ball in play and make their team work and we did a good job," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "Callie went out there and gave us a chance to win and that's all we can ask for."
The Warhawks ran out to an early lead in the top of the first scoring two runs off of three hits.
The Mavericks tied the game 2-2 in the second inning when Britnea Barilli singled scoring Lauren Ramsey and Riley Fira.
UTA took the 3-2 lead in the fourth inning as Nina Villanueva singled to score Barilli and the Mavericks grabbed a security run in the sixth to go up 4-2.
ULM scored in the seventh to some within one run, 4-3. With two runners on and a full count Collins stuck out Amye Barre for the win.
The Mavericks continue their seven-game homestand Wednesday at 6 p.m. as they host Abilene Christian at Allan Saxe Field.
