Arlington, Texas - The UT Arlington softball team suffered a 3-2 loss in the final game of the series against McNeese State on Sunday at the Cowgirl Diamond.
The loss dropped the Mavericks to 31-21 overall and 18-9 in Southland play. The Cowgirls improved to 26-27 and 15-12.
McNeese State jumped out to a quick 3-0 advantage in the first inning following an Alanna Divittorio two-run home run and a solo blast from Molly Guidry.
As a team, UTA scattered five hits and left six runners on base. Gonzalez led the Mavericks offensively going 1-for-1 with one run scored and two walks.
True freshman Callie Collins (17-9) took the loss in the circle after surrendering three runs on three hits and walking five in six innings of work.
Before the Mavericks take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in their final series of the regular-season they will play a non-conference game against North Texas on Wednesday, May 4 in Denton, Texas. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
