Jones (7-11) clinched the SLC series sweep for the Mavs (27-21, 20-10) without giving up a walk and striking out six, while fanning four. Lyndsey Harris (1-21) took the loss for the Bears (6-43, 4-25) giving up four runs (two earned) on eight hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

UTA pulled away with a trio of runs in the home half of the sixth, including a double from Moore and another UCA error. Center fielder April Clougherty kicked off the inning with a single through the left side and advanced to second on an out for Christina Allen. Moore hit a double to right center plating Clougherty and Swofford, but was caught off second from the right fielder. With two outs, freshman Whitney Simpson singled to center field to score Fortenberry from third to give UTA the 4-0 lead.
