Each team picked up a run in the 11th inning and sent the game into the 12th. Senior shortstop Courtney Enocksen scored a run for the Mavericks in the top of the 12th and UTA was three outs shy of a conference victory.
With the bases loaded for the Lady Lions, pitcher Teri Lyles gave up an error allowing Katie Doyle to score the winning run for SLU in the 4-3 extra-inning victory for the Lady Lions.
The Lady Lions (14-34, 4-15 SLC) are just one game behind UT Arlington in the conference standings and Saturday’s game at noon could determine who completes the season with a last place finish.
