Arlington, Texas - With the Mavericks holding onto a 2-1 advantage heading into the top of the seventh, the Mean Green came back to tie and win 3-2 in the eighth inning. The setback dropped the Mavericks to 26-23 overall while North Texas improved to 27-17.

UT Arlington and North Texas sported a different look at Allan Saxe Field Wednesday night. The Mavericks and Mean Green wore blue t-shirts to support ovarian cancer awareness. All proceeds generated from the charity game were donated to the American Cancer Society.

North Texas highlighted the scoreboard first, plating a run in the fifth on one hit but the Mavericks came right back in the bottom half of the frame, as two UTA players connected on hits.

Teri Lyles tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with a double to left center putting her in scoring position for shortstop Courtney Enocksen. After two failed bunt attempts, Enocksen put the ball in play to UNT's third basemen who overthrew first. Lyles was awarded home and Enocksen second on the dead ball.

The inning continued for the Mavs as Charne Office singled up the middle, scoring Enocksen and put UTA on top 2-1.

UNT tied the game in the seventh when a costly error by the Mavericks put the tying run at second base. The Mean Green tied the game at 2-2 after Lyles threw a wild pitch.

The game was sent into extra innings after UT Arlington was unable to connect on a run in the bottom half of the frame.

With the international tie breaker in effect, UNT played small ball advancing the runner placed at second to third on a bunt and scoring her with a blooper to right field.

The Mavericks tired the same strategy but were unable to come up with the base hit.

Lyles (13-13) took the loss on the mound for the Mavs, pitching 8.0 innings, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out seven.

Cara Hulme picked up her 36th walk of the season which ranks first in UTA single-season history while Samantha Chumchal recorded her 12th double of the season in the sixth inning. Chumchal has connected on 29 career doubles which ranks fourth in UTA history.

The Mavericks will now focus their attention towards the 2010 Southland Conference Tournament in San Marcos, Texas on May 13-15. As of right now the Mavs are the No. 3 seed but due to conference action still being played by other teams in the conference, UTA's seed will not be certain until Sunday night.
