ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington Softball Alumni Game will be Saturday, March, 23 after the Mavericks take on Seattle U at 1 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
The Alumni Game is open to past UT Arlington softball players, along with UTA faculty and staff members, and other friends of the program.
"We're trying to reach out to all the former players and bring them back to see all the great things we have going on," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "We have our indoor hitting facility, and the plans in place for other improvements at Allan Saxe Field.
"We want to bring them back to see what all we have to offer so that they remember where they came from and have something they can take pride in."
All alumni will be introduced before the Mavericks take on the Redhawks. Following the game, the 2013 team will sign autographs and hand out posters. Barbecue will be served outside of Allen Saxe Field. The afternoon will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new indoor hitting facility before the start of the Alumni Game.
"We're really excited to have our first Alumni Game under the direction of our new softball coach, Kristie Fox," Athletics Director Jim Baker said. "Reconnecting with our former student-ahtletes and our proud tradition is important as we move into a new era of UT Arlington softball."
