ARLINGTON, Texas - With just days remaining until UTA Softball takes the diamond in the season opener, the team met with the media on Monday for the annual softball and baseball media day at the Justin D. Wilson Hitting Facility.
UTA returns three all-conference selections from a 2017 campaign that saw the Mavs reach the postseason for the first time since 2003. Sandra Mendoza and Krista Rude are both chasing the program's all-time batting average record, while coach Peejay Brun begins a new era as the Maverick skipper.
UTA takes on Syracuse on Friday in the season opener, hosted in Baton Rouge, La. by LSU. UTA will then take on the Tigers at 5 p.m. on ESPN3. The Mavs open Allan Saxe Field on Feb. 13 against Texas Tech at 3 p.m.
