MAVS PLAY FIRST DOUBLE HEADER OF THE SEASON AT LOUISIANA TECH

ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington softball is set for its first double header of the 2007 season as it travels to Ruston, La. for a meeting with Louisiana Tech. This will be the 35th meeting between the Mavericks and Lady Techsters. Louisiana Tech holds a 23-11 lead in the series.
The Mavs are coming off a 3-2 showing at the Troy Cox Classic hosted by New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. UTA won its first three games in New Mexico; 4-3 over Buffalo, 6-1 over UTEP and 12-1 (5) over Central Michigan. The Mavs fell 0-7 to host New Mexico State and 4-13 to Loyola Marymount in its last two games of the classic.
For the weekend junior Katie Jones led the Mavs offense going 7-for-15 and scoring six runs including hitting four home runs. Against Central Michigan, Jones went 3-for-4 and recorded her first career multi home run game.
For the season junior Kristin Moore leads the Mavs with a .600 batting average. Moore has scored three runs off one double and one home run, while driving in four runs.
Louisiana Tech is 7-4 on the season falling in its last game 3-2 to Mississippi Valley. Emma Barnes leads the Lady Techsters playing and starting in all 11 games going 14-for-32 and scoring eight runs. Barnes also leads La. Tech with three doubles.
