ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington softball is set for its third and final regular season tournament of the 2007 season. The Mavericks will be hosting Prairie View A&M and Pittsburgh for a three-day six-game tournament. UTA and Prairie View will open up the tournament on Friday at 4 p.m.
In the second day of action all three teams will face each other with UTA and Pitt meeting in the first game of the day at 11 a.m. The Mavs will close out day two against Prairie View at 4 p.m. On Sunday UTA will close out the tournament with a second game with Pitt at 1:30 p.m.
This will be the fourth meeting between UTA and Prairie View and the first meeting between the Mavs and Pittsburgh. The Mavericks hold a 3-0 lead in the series with Prairie View. The last time these two teams met UTA won 1-0 in Irving, Texas on Feb. 17, 2006.
The Mavs are coming off their first double header loss of the season, 5-6, 1-5 respectively at Louisiana Tech on Wednesday. Dee Jay Nelson did hit her 15th career home run in the night cap, while senior Courtni Anderson led the team going 3-for-7 scoring one run and driving in two more for the day.
After this weekend tournament UTA will play host to Texas State on Feb. 27-28 for both teams first conference three game series of the season. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday with Wednesday game set to start at 1 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
