SOFTBALL SET FOR SECOND SLC SERIES OF THE SEASON AT UTSA

ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington softball is set for its second Southland Conference series of the season when it travels to San Antonio to take on the Roadrunners of UTSA. Both teams opened up conference play earlier this week with 2-1 records. For the season UTSA holds a 7-11 overall record while UTA is 11-8 overall.
The Mavs are coming off 3-7 loss to Texas State in game three of the series. UTA swept the double header on Tuesday, 4-1 and 2-1 respectively. Senior Dee Jay Nelson led the Mavs in their series with the Bobcats going 4-for-6 with two runs and four RBI. Nelson hit her fifth and sixth home runs of the season in the Mavs third game of the series on Wednesday.
For the season junior Katie Jones leads UTA with a .475 batting average. Jones has scored a team leading 18 runs on 29 hits including five home runs, one more than her total home runs from last season.
The Roadrunners took games two and three from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 5-1 and 4-3 respectively after dropping game one, 1-3. Rudi Cantu leads UTSA with 14 runs scored while Jessica Rogers has registered 15 RBI and two home runs.
The Mavs will return to Allan Saxe Field on Wednesday for a single game against Centenary at 6 p.m. followed by a SLC series with Northwestern State on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
