KATY COX NAMED SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK

ARLINGTON, Texas...The University of Texas at Arlington pitcher Katy Cox was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for her efforts in helping the Lady Mavericks sweep Nicholls State over the weekend in Thibodaux, La. The honor is Cox's second of the year, with the first coming last week.
The Haltom City native picked up two wins at Nicholls State as the Lady Mavs improved to 6-0 in the league. In 12.0 total innings, she struck out 18 batters, 12 coming in UTA's extra inning win over the Lady Colonels. In eight innings, Cox held Nicholls State to five hits and only two earned runs. In Sunday's 4.0 inning effort, she struck out six, scattered three hits and gave up one earned run.
Texas-Arlington (14-9, 6-0 SLC) returns to action Wednesday, March 12, when it plays host to Western Illinois for a doubleheader at Allan Saxe Field. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
