The UT Arlington softball team gets back into conference action this Saturday and Sunday when it takes on Central Arkansas in Conway, AR. The Mavericks open Saturday's double-header at 11 a.m. at the Farris Field.

UTA enters the three-game series with an 18-11 overall record and 5-1 conference mark. The Mavericks played three non-conference games earlier this week, going 2-1. UT Arlington dropped a 5-0 decision at No. 15 Baylor Tuesday and recorded a pair of victories against Prairie View A&M Wednesday.

The Mavs recorded a 9-1 game one win and followed with a 27-0 victory in game two. UTA combined for 35 hits which included nine doubles, one triple and three home runs. The 27 runs in game two were also the most runs scored by a team coached by Debbie Hedrick.

Callie Collins (10-3) and Teri Lyles (7-7) each recorded wins in the circle against the Panthers. Collins leads the pitching staff with a 1.18 ERA in 88.2 innings pitched and leads the Southland with 101 strikeouts.

Central Arkansas enters the weekend series on a three-game skid. UCA has a 10-14 overall record and a 3-3 conference mark. The Sugar Bears picked up a pair of wins against McNeese State and one win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Sugar Bears dropped a 7-5 non-conference decision against Ole Miss on Wednesday at the Farris Field.

Melanie Bryant leads the team in batting with a .468 average. She also leads the team in home runs with six. In the circle, UCA is led by Kelsie Armstrong who has a 7-10 record with a 2.05 ERA in 102. 1 innings pitched.

UT Arlington owns an 11-2 all-time series lead over Central Arkansas. In Conway, AR, the Mavericks lead UCA, 4-2. Last season, UTA swept the Sugar Bears in Arlington on March 13-14.
