ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington Mavericks will host No. 18 Baylor Wednesday, March 20 at Allan Saxe Field at 5 p.m.
The Mavs (15-11) are coming off a 3-3 finish at the San Diego Classic II March 14-18 in San Diego, Calif. UTA defeated Southern Utah, Bryant and Seton Hall while falling to Miami, UNLV and Buffalo.
The Mavericks will host No. 18 Baylor (25-5) in their first home game since March 3 in which UTA defeated Creighton 3-0 behind senior Teri Lyles no-hitter performance. The Bears lead the all-time series against the Mavs 48-15 after defeating UTA 11-0 on Feb. 12, 2012 in Waco.
"I think we can compete with any team," UTA head softball coach Kristie Fox said, "if we have solid pitching, good defense and timely hitting."
After facing Baylor, UT Arlington will open Western Athletic Conference play against Seattle University at home. The Mavs will host the Redhawks Friday, March 22 in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. before closing out the series Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m.
Saturday, March 23 will mark an Alumni Day for past members of the UTA softball program. A barbecue lunch will be served following the Seattle game along with a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the Mavericks new indoor hitting facility.
