ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington Mavericks will host Seattle U in a three game homestand to kick off Western Athletic Conference play. A doubleheader will begin the series at 4 p.m. Friday, March 22 and conclude with a single game at 1 p.m Saturday, March 23 at Allan Saxe Field.
"We're going to take the same approach we have all season," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said about entering confernce play. "We're focusing on our game and executing."
The Mavs (15-12) fell to No. 18 Baylor 5-2 in a mid-week matchup Wednesday, March 20 at Allan Saxe Field. Rachel Forshaw led the way for UTA going 2-for-3 with one of the two RBI in the game.
This series will mark the first meetings between the Mavs and Redhawks (11-17) in program history. Currently, UTA leads the WAC in team pitching with a 1.57 ERA while Seattle U is on top in team fielding with a .967 fielding percentage.
Seattle U's Allegra Wilde is ranked 14 in the WAC for her .343 batting average but is followed closely by Meagan Michele (20) for the Mavs with a .324 average. Maverick pitcher Teri Lyles leads the WAC with a 1.22 ERA and a 14-4 record while Richelle Ashburn is also in the rankings for the Redhawks at ninth with a 2.96 ERA and 7-7 record.
